Deze avond is onderdeel van de Night Shift debatserie ‘Representatie in het museum’. Veel musea doen hun best om een zo’n breed mogelijk publiek te bedienen. Toch blijkt vaak dat slechts een klein deel van de Nederlandse bevolking ook daadwerkelijk musea bezoekt. Met name in de grote steden komt het bezoekersprofiel van musea niet overeen met de diversiteit van de bevolking. Hoe kunnen musea relevant worden én blijven voor een divers publiek? The red ‘hop-on hop-off’ buses have arrived in Rotterdam, a telltale sign that the city has become a tourist destination. Rotterdam Partners, responsible for the city’s marketing strategy, have clearly done a great job. But what are the benefits of these growing numbers of tourists for cultural heritage institutions? Join us for our first Night Shift where we will discuss the questions Who are we? What is the changing role of libraries, archives and museums? Are there new opportunities, and what are the challenges if these organisations want to stay relevant in today’s society? Cultural heritage experts from the library, archive and museum field will share their visions and opinions but the night will mostly be about conversation.
